Troubleshooting

If something isn’t working as expected, check below for your issue. Most problems come down to a permission toggle or a connection hiccup.

Audio issues

Microphone not picking up audio

Make sure Cuvo has microphone permission on your device.

macOS

Go to System Settings Privacy & Security Microphone and confirm that Cuvo is listed and enabled. If Cuvo doesn’t appear in the list, try starting a session — macOS will prompt you for permission.

iPhone & iPad

Go to Settings Cuvo Microphone and make sure the toggle is on. If you previously denied the permission, you’ll need to enable it here manually.

No audio input device found (macOS)

macOS

Cuvo requires an active audio input device. Check System Settings Sound Input and verify that a microphone is selected and its input level is responding when you speak. If you’re using an external mic or headset, make sure it’s properly connected.

System audio not capturing the other person

macOS

System audio capture requires headphones to be connected — AirPods, wired earbuds, or any audio output device other than the built-in speakers. This is how Cuvo separates the other person’s voice from yours. See System Audio Capture for more details.

Permissions

Calendar access denied

Cuvo uses calendar access to show upcoming meetings in the session setup screen and to detect calls automatically in Auto Mode.

macOS

Go to System Settings Privacy & Security Calendars and enable access for Cuvo.

iPhone & iPad

Go to Settings Cuvo Calendars and enable access.

Connection problems

Integration connection failing

If connecting to HubSpot, Pipedrive, Notion, Google Docs, or Google Calendar fails during the OAuth sign-in flow:

  1. Check your internet connection — the OAuth flow requires reaching external servers.
  2. Try again — transient network issues can interrupt the redirect. Go to Integrations and tap the connect button to retry.
  3. Check the service status — occasionally the third-party service itself may be experiencing downtime.

If the connection succeeds but then stops working, the token may have expired. Disconnect and reconnect the integration from the Integrations screen.

Coaching

No coaching cues appearing

If you’ve started a session but no cues are showing up:

  1. Check your internet connection — coaching cues require a network connection to the AI provider (unless running in on-device mode).
  2. Check the provider indicator — in the session view, look for the provider label showing “Cloud” or “On-device.” If neither appears, the provider may not have initialized.
  3. Give it a moment — cues are generated every 45 seconds or so. Start talking and the first cue will arrive after enough conversation context has accumulated.
  4. Try requesting a cue — use the “Cue Now” button to request a cue immediately rather than waiting for the next automatic cycle.

Live Activities

Coaching cues not showing on the Lock Screen

iPhone & iPad

Live Activities must be enabled for Cuvo. Go to Settings Cuvo Live Activities and make sure the toggle is on. Also confirm that you’re running a session — Live Activities only appear when a coaching session is active.
